The material you are about to see on this Web page and on the Florida Department of Elder Affairs Web page have been copyrighted since 1998, therefore make sure that if you intend to use the Tool Kit of either program you obtain permission from the original author of the work.
One of the most important components of the Communities for Life also known as Communities for a Lifetime is the inclusiveness of the program. Once a community begins the transformation first to an Access Ready Community, second to an Elder Ready Community and finally to a Community for a Lifetime, the entire family and neighborhood will benefit from the changes.
This is particularly true of those residents that are not receiving government services because their income exceeds the eligibility amount. All residents, regardless of age, will benefit from zoning laws, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, health initiatives, cleaner air, quality water, driving skills improvement programs and family friendly businesses. This is truly the core of the program, and there are steps you can follow to begin the transformation today.
